Erik Jansen

Erik Jansen provides the Texas Tigers community a remarkable background in both playing and coaching youth hockey. Erik grew up playing Tier 1 hockey in Chicago, Illinois. After high school, Erik continued to play in the sport he’d grown to love, first through a year of junior hockey in Grand Rapids Michigan. For the following four years, Erik played for the University of Central Oklahoma at the ACHA Division 1 level. Erik was also the Assistant Captain for the team.

During his four years at the University of Central Oklahoma, Erik earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, as well as a minor in both Business Administration and Biology.

As far a coaching is concerned, Erik made the decision early to continue working in, and offering his best, to the sport he loved; by coaching while he was still playing and attending college. He spent multiple summers working with the Northern Edge Elite Hockey School, as well as working as an instructor in Hockey Ministries.

In 2011, Erik began coaching for the Dallas Stars Select, as an assistant coach with the Midget Major Team; then Dallas Junior Hockey Association, Penguins, as the head coach of the Midget Minor A team. Prior to joining Plano West Hockey Club, Erik assisted in coaching the Marcus High School Varsity team. From the beginning of Erik’s coaching experience, Erik has clearly shown an ability and willingness to give back to this sport; while he watched kids develop and readily accept new challenges with each and every season.
