2025-2026 Coaching Staff
Erik Jansen has been with the Texas Tigers since the 2019-2020 season and has produced two teams with a final MHR #1 ranking - 16U AA in 2019-2020 and 18U AA in 2021-2022.
He provides the Texas Tigers community a remarkable background in both playing and coaching youth hockey. Erik grew up playing Tier 1 hockey in Chicago, Illinois. After high school, Erik continued to play in the sport he’d grown to love, first through a year of junior hockey in Grand Rapids Michigan. For the following four years, Erik played for the University of Central Oklahoma at the ACHA Division 1 level. Erik was also the Assistant Captain for the team.
During his four years at the University of Central Oklahoma, Erik earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, as well as a minor in both Business Administration and Biology.
As far a coaching is concerned, Erik made the decision early to continue working in, and offering his best, to the sport he loved; by coaching while he was still playing and attending college. He spent multiple summers working with the Northern Edge Elite Hockey School, as well as working as an instructor in Hockey Ministries.
In 2011, Erik began coaching for the Dallas Stars Select, as an assistant coach with the Midget Major Team; then Dallas Junior Hockey Association, Penguins, as the head coach of the Midget Minor A team. Prior to joining Plano West Hockey Club, Erik assisted in coaching the Marcus High School Varsity team. From the beginning of Erik’s coaching experience, Erik has clearly shown an ability and willingness to give back to this sport; while he watched kids develop and readily accept new challenges with each and every season.
Stefan Skinner grew up in the DFW area and played his youth travel hockey locally for the Titans, Scots, and Alliance Bulldogs. He played his high school hockey for Rockwall High School where he won a state championship. Coach Skinner played inline hockey professionally and finished his playing career playing Juniors in New Mexico before returning home to begin his career as a Building Engineer, taking care of commercial office buildings.
Coach Skinner is a Level 4 USA Hockey certified coach and has spent the last 8 years assisting and co- head coaching local boys and girls travel teams between the u8 and u18 levels. Coach Skinner has already helped move a number of players onto D1 and D3 colleges.
Stefan is extremely detail oriented and enjoys creating a solid culture within a team where the players can learn how to balance fun, hard work, and being good teammates. Coach Skinner firmly believes in having a strong work ethic while developing hockey sense and individual skill. He also believes in leading by example on and off the ice.
